Liberty forward Erin Eisenhart will continue her academic and athletic career playing basketball at Gwynedd Mercy University located in suburban Montgomery County this fall.
“Getting on the campus, the coach, the style of play, it felt like home for me,” Eisenhart said.
Keith Mondillo is the Griffins’ head coach who led Gwynedd Mercy to an overall record of 15-13 last season.
“Overall, he wasn’t looking to bring in a big freshman class, so I feel like that helped persuade me as well, but I also went to one of their practices, and I liked the dynamic of the team,” said Eisenhart. “He was telling me I’d play a guard position more, but he’d be switching it up. He gives all his girls the green light for everything. They’re a fast-break team, and I feel like I would fit the program really well.”
Eisenhart is planning on majoring in psychology, eventually moving into sports psychology.
“I watched them play Arcadia, and it’s like a whole, different world because at the college level, you have the shot clock as well, so it’s very fast-paced, but their energy on the bench, I’m a big energy person, so I want to go where I can contribute and where they’re going to contribute to get me going as well,” she said.
Gwynedd Mercy is part of the Atlantic East Conference, which also includes Cabrini, Immaculata, Marymount, Marywood, Neumann, and Wesley.
“I’m very much looking forward to being around the girls and meeting all the new people, spending more time with the coach and meshing with the team,” Eisenhart said.
