Blues Nite Out will offer an opportunity for music, food, and fun in the Neffs Church Grove on Aug. 27.

Bev Conklin and her band will be on stage 4-6:30 p.m.

Sarah Ayers and James Supra will take over from 7-10 p.m.

Menu includes hot dogs, turkey barbecues, sausage sandwiches, shrimp delight, homemade desserts and Friendly’s ice cream.

Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to this favorite community event.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will host a family fun and movie night in the grove from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 20.

Movie snacks and games will be provided. Bring a chair or blanket to relax and enjoy a movie under the stars.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will host an old-time summer picnic after the 9 a.m. worship service on Aug. 28.

Games, a cakewalk, hot dogs, ice cream, baked goods, and more will help everyone have a good time and enjoy the fellowship of those who are present.

The event is part of the 150th anniversary celebration of the church.

Union Lutheran Pastor Gordon Camp says the troublesome events happening in the world can cause distress to people who may feel powerless to have any affect on a more hopeful future.

Pastor Camp suggests working in ways where we do have control and influence.

This is ultimately how the world changes. It is the actions of people who at first affect small pockets of our world but over time add up to change on a large scale, explains the pastor.

“I would encourage all of us to help the world by doing an act of kindness and love no matter how small,” Camp said.

“That is how Jesus began changing the world, one person at a time.”

Upper Lehigh Lions report the recent Roar With the Lions Festival and Craft Show in Neffs church grove was a success with busy food sales and enjoyment by the community.

Friday night’s entertainment by the Mudflap was canceled due to pending rain.

When precipitation held off, Stacey Gabel stepped up and provided lovely vocal music for the evening.
