Allentown resident

receives fire safety training

On Nov. 8, 2021, Brian Akonu, a sophomore majoring in communication from Allentown, along with a group of East Stroudsburg University resident advisors participated in a basic fire extinguisher training.

Nate Black, ESU’s director of environmental health and safety, led the training.

He began with basic fire safety tips such as what to do when a fire alarm goes off, how sprinkler systems work, and why it’s important to take every fire alarm seriously.

The group then learned how to use a fire extinguisher using the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).

The students used a fire extinguisher training system provided by Monroe County Office of Emergency Management.
