Gates open at 6 p.m. Jeffrey Bruce Atkins, whose stage name is Ja Rule, is a rapper and actor born in Hollis, Queens, N.Y. His debut album, “Venni Vetti Vecci” (1999, “I came, I saw, I conquered”) had the lead single, “Holla Holla.” Ja Rule’s hits include “Between Me and You” and “I’m Real (Murder Remix)” and “Ain’t It Funny,” the latter two with Jennifer Lopez, and the No. 1 hit, “Always on Time” featuring Ashanti. His albums include “Rule 3:36” (2000), “Pain Is Love” (2001), “The Last Temptation” (2002), “Blood in My Eye” (2003) and “R.U.L.E.” (2004). Rule has sold more than 30 million records. Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, whose stage name is Ashanti, was born in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y. She was the first female artist to have the top two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously: “Foolish” from her first album, which received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album, and “What’s Luv?” at No. 1 and 2, respectively. Her second album, “Chapter II” (2003), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Her albums include “Concrete Rose” (2004), “The Declaration” (2008) and “Braveheart” (2014). Ashanti has sold nearly 15 million records. Red Mcfly is a rapper from Allentown who has produced beats for Kanye West, among others.
