At the Aug. 1 workshop meeting, Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners discussed an ordinance that would amend the deadline for business privilege tax filing.
Instead of the normal due date of June 1, this year’s deadline would be pushed back to Oct. 1. The amendment would only apply to this year’s taxes since invoices were sent out late.
Next year, the commissioners and township Treasurer Tina Koren hope to send out one invoice for the business privilege tax and business license renewal.
In other business, the commissioners considered a resolution to conditionally approve a land development plan for self-storage units at 2813 Lehigh St.
The property in question was granted a zoning variance back in 2006, according to Commissioner Charles Fisher. The granted variance is transferable as long as all requirements are met, though the property owner has not changed.
Both items, along with a resolution to implement a new township policy, will be voted on at the next meeting.
The board will meet 7 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority public meeting room, 3213 MacArthur Road. There will also be a special public meeting Aug. 24 regarding the Adams Outdoor Advertising curative amendment hearing.
