Special dinner celebrates founding of Emmaus

Gene Clock, president of the Knauss Homestead and Richard Farmer, president of The Friends of the 1803 House are jointly leading the planning committee of the “Founders Day Dinner,” celebrating the July 30, 1747 founding of Emmaus and 275th anniversary of the Emmaus Moravian Church. These two historic sites in the borough were constructed by the relatives of Sebastian Knauss and Jacob Ehrenhardt.

The celebration takes place July 30 at the Emmaus Moravian Church, 148 Main St., Emmaus, in Fellowship Hall and includes a presentation titled Pennsylvania Pioneers, by Joshua Fink, senior museum educator at the Lehigh County Historical Society. The dinner will be catered by Willow Street Catering and harp and guitar music performed by the Williams Duo.

Tickets are $20 per person, children under 6 are free. Doors open 5:15 p.m. The program begins 6 p.m. Purchase using www.eventbrite.com and entering “Emmaus Founders Day Dinner.”

Proceeds benefit the preservation and restoration of the Knauss Homestead and the 1803 House equally.
