Mae K. (Long) Long former funeral home owner

Mae K. (Long) Long, 90, of Bethlehem, died peacefully on July 19, 2022, in her home at Moravian Village. Born in Marion Township, and raised in Strausstown, she was a daughter of the late Warren F. Long and the late Beulah Virgie (Hartman) Long Bross. She was the wife of the late Wallace M. Long, founder of the former Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.

She graduated from Bryland School of Beauty Culture.

She and her husband owned both a beauty shop and a funeral home in Oley. They purchased the former Steyers Funeral Home, Bethlehem.

She was involved in activities at Central Moravian Church including the Busy Workers, Sacristans, Sunday School and the Ladies Sewing Society. She made dresses for Polly Heckewelder and Anna Nitschmann dolls.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lioness Club, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Elks Lodge. She bowled weekly in a women’s league at Town and Country Lanes up until age 80.

She is survived by a son, Michael and his wife Terri of Bethlehem Township; a daughter, Michele Graffis and her husband Dale of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Meghan Gaur and her husband Agosh of New York, Douglas Long and his wife Shelley of Virginia, Tyler Long and his wife Kelsey of Hanover Township and Andrew Graffis of Colorado; six great-grandchildren Hallie, Maisie, Clara, Roshan, Callen and Maya; a sister-in-law, Mildred Long of Hamburg; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by eight siblings, Mary Hassler, George Long, Earl Long, Warren Long, Dorothy Heister, Grace Breidigan, Marion Batz and Leona Stoudt; and a grandson, Derek Graffis.
