Vijay and Eshita Patel’s dream of owning a convenience store came one step closer to reality as the Zoning Hearing Board granted their appeal at a special hearing July 13.
The proposed shop will be located at 1101 E. Fourth St. and will offer items such as food, tobacco products and lottery tickets.
Unlike the Patels, Valery Peters’ dream of owning a bed and breakfast at 215 E. Church St. will not be happening anytime soon. After deliberating for just over an hour, board members denied her proposal. Among the points under consideration was whether the B&B could be considered a hotel, making it commercial building in a residential zone.
A written decision will be filed within the next 45 days. At that time Peters can decide whether to appeal the decision.
