Commissioner Ray Ortiz’s passionate work and belief in the Backpack Club helped secure the passage of a motion to donate $2,000 to the Backpack Club during the July 11 Bethlehem Housing Authority meeting.
These funds will help provide breakfast and lunches, as well as school supplies, to children in our community who may need the extra help during school year breaks.
Acting Executive Director John Ritter told The Press that this is an important cause for Ortiz, who has been involved with the organization for years.
In other business, resolutions for pest control services for all BHA properties and the Northwest Community Center grant from Lowes received unanimous approval.
The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. at Monocacy Tower Community Room.
