Whitehall man, 24, dies in Egypt motorcycle crash

A July 20 crash involving a motorcycle and motor vehicle claimed the life of a 24-year-old Whitehall man.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene 5:38 p.m. Whitehall Township police posted information on Twitter, alerting the public to avoid the area of South Church Street, between Chestnut and Bridge streets, in Egypt. Police also said the road was closed.

Justin T. Beers, the operator of the motorcycle, died at the scene of the crash, which happened in the 4000 block of South Church Street, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.

An autopsy determined Beers died from multiple blunt force injuries, said Buglio, who ruled the manner of death an accident.

The township police department, with assistance from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the coroner’s office, continues to investigate.

According to his obituary, Beers, of Hokendauqua, was a 2016 graduate of Whitehall High School.

He worked in the warehouse of FedEx, Allentown. He was also a landscaper.

He enjoyed motorcycles and working on automobiles. He was restoring a Pontiac Firebird with his father, Timothy M. Beers, of Danielsville, Lehigh Township.

A candlelight vigil is set for 7 p.m. July 30 in the 4000 block of South Church Street.

There are two GoFundMe accounts set up to help the family with funeral expenses.

The first, set up by a friend of Beers’ mother, Brandy Holland, noted, “Justin was a young man, full of so much life. He was adored by his friends and family. We are trying to process this, the best we can, during this difficult time. The family appreciates all your prayers, love and support.”

At press time, $5,177 has been raised toward the $10,000 goal. To donate, visit gofundme.com/f/help-lay-justin-brandys-baby-boy-to-rest.
