Fullerton: St. John’s Evangelical welcomes new interim pastor

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., announces and welcomes its new interim pastor, Lynnette Delbridge.

Born in North Carolina, Delbridge attended Salem College, N.C., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in music and English. Her educational background also includes a Master of Divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament studies from Union Theological Seminary in New York City and a master’s in music education from Holy Names University, Oakland, Calif.

In addition to experience teaching the New Testament at the seminary level, Delbridge served as assistant pastor at Clemmons Moravian Church, Clemmons, N.C., and as co-pastor with her husband, Andrew Meckstroth, for 12.5 years at Castleton Hill Moravian Church, Staten Island, N.Y.

While in New York, she focused on Christian education and music ministries with children and youth as well as the development of clothing distribution and community garden projects.

Most recently, she served for six years at Central Moravian Church, where she focused on children and youth, social action, care for creation and communication ministries.

She has two daughters, Helen Meckstroth, a student at Moravian University, and Carol Delbridge, a student at Liberty High School.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is holding Vacation Bible School 6-8 p.m. Aug. 1-5. This year’s program is Abundance Orchard, based on hunger in the New Testament. There will be story-themed snacks, crafts and songs.

Mark your calendar for the 13th annual basket social during Columbus Day weekend, set for Oct. 7-9. Bargains are everywhere, so start collecting your items now.

You can also drop off your nonperishable items at the parish office for the committee to make a basket for you. Be sure to have your name on your donations.
