Summer concerts continue

Summer concerts continue. The Large Flowerheads will perform 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 29 at the Hills at Lockridge Park Bandshell; The Macungie Band will perform 7-8 p.m. Aug. 11 and Island Time will perform 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 20, 7125 Scenic View Drive, Macungie.

Lower Macungie Library is now open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library now offers auto renewals on eligible items. The book drop is open 24/7.

The library now offers notary service at no charge by appointment for residents of the township.

Chit Chat & Craft @ LML: River Rock Painting for adults will be offered 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 20. A Seashell Mosaic Trivet will be offered 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 27.

Spa Day at the Library will be held 1-3 p.m. July 23. Paisley and Company from Kutztown will guide attendees in designing their lotion and soy candle.

Building Bridges: An Introduction to Judaism will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 25. Learn about the basics of Judaism and join in an open dialogue.

Fin-Tastic Family Crafts will be held 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m. July 26.

For students in grades 6-12, Survival Island: Team Building Exercise will be offered 2-3 p.m. July 28.

Grab & Go Craft Kits will be available for children and teens in grades 6-12 beginning Aug. 1. Supplies are limited.

There will be a family Goldfish Tasting for all ages 2-3:30 p.m. Aug. 2.

Mindful Moments for students in grades 6-12 will be held 2-3 p.m. Aug. 4.

Summer Fun and Teen Reads Programs will conclude Aug. 6. This the final day to collect prizes.

The library will offer the third session of “Coming to America” 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 15. The meeting will be a book discussion. The fourth session will be Sept. 18.

The Lower Macungie Library Book Club book for 10:30 to noon Aug. 3 is “The Personal Librarian” by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. The book for Sept. 7 is “The Women in Black” by Madeleine St. John. The book club meets virtually.

Books and Beyond will meet 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Batch Microcreamery at Shepherd Hills Golf Club. Registration is required. The next meeting will be Aug. 8.

Summer Story times for children ages 2-6 years are back. There will be stories, songs and rhymes 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesdays on the library’s front lawn. The dates for the story times are July 27 and Aug. 3. If it is raining, story time is canceled.

Lower Macungie Pool is open noon to 8 p.m. daily through July 31. Beginning Aug. 1, the hours will be noon to 7 p.m. Adult lap swim will be available 7-8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings. Preregistration is required.

The Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens will meet noon Aug. 2 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. Bring your own food. Puppeteer Scott Wagstaff will provide entertainment.

Open gym has returned at the community center. Residents must purchase an annual membership to use the gym.

The community center is open to the public while following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. The center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and staff is available by phone 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 610-966-6924. Yard waste center hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off. The center is located at 5536 Indian Creek Road, Macungie.

Weekly curbside collection of grass clippings will take place the day after your regular trash day. Yard waste collection will take place the weeks of July 25, Aug. 10 and 24 on the day after regular trash collection.
