North Catasauqua: Event is set for July 23

Come out and join North Catasauqua Police Department, North Catasauqua Parks and Recreation and North Catasauqua Fire Department in celebrating the second annual North Catasauqua Community Day Out.

The event will be held noon-6 p.m. July 23 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The rain date is July 24.

There will be food vendors, RMK Entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, local businesses, games and activities, entertainment, raffle and 50/50, dunk tank, giant slide, special guests, bounce houses, food and snacks, rock wall and more.

There will also be police and fire vehicles, a helicopter, state police mounted unit, U.S. military, police K-9 and fire rescue demonstrations, Lehigh County Special Operations, kids’ fingerprinting, community resources, police giveaways and child safety information.

Local and state law enforcement agencies, first responders from the Lehigh Valley, local businesses and local government officials will be there to spend time with members of the community and have fun. Local businesses and vendors are more than welcome to join the celebration.

This event is open to the public.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is planning to hold a half-price sale July 25-Aug. 6 on everything in the store, unless otherwise marked.

The thrift shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Shop volunteers are happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing during store hours.

Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Catty Seniors Plus will meet July 27 at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St. Use the back entrance. Doors open noon, and the meeting starts 1 p.m.

This month is the group’s red, white and blue contest. The person wearing the most red, white and blue will win a prize. There are three prizes awarded. Come see which of your friends is the most patriotic.

Bill Wise, from Life Spring Home Care, will be the guest speaker.

Dessert and bingo will follow.

North Catasauqua Recreation Committee has planned a very active and fun summertime program.

Events are free to the public.

A monetary donation to the nonprofit group, which is dedicated to keeping the local park well maintained, is always welcomed.

All events are held at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park.

Band concerts include The Clap, 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and Steel Creek, 7 p.m. Aug. 24, with a rain date of 7 p.m. Aug. 25.

There will be a yard sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 6 at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, to benefit the Public Library of Catasauqua.

There will be no electronics or furniture. The sale is cash only.
