After a two-year hiatus from an in-person event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, thespians from area high schools got a chance to shine in the spotlights of the State Theatre Center for the Arts, 453 Northampton St., Easton, at the 2022 Freddy Awards May 26.
The cast and crew from Catasauqua High School garnered two Freddy Awards out of six nominations, scoring the Freddy Award for Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School for “Chicago: High School Edition.”
Hannah Kurczeski brought home the Freddy Award for Outstanding Featured Performance by an Actress for her role as Velma Kelly.
Freddy nominees included leads Angelina Dries as Roxie Hart and Aidan Heil as Billy Flynn, as well as male ensemble member Joseph Valentin.
