No. Valley Connie Mack preps for playoff tourney

The Northern Valley Connie Mack Chargers concluded an outstanding regular season last Friday night with a 15-4 win at Salisbury.

The victory improved coach Joey Seremula team’s record to 16-2, good for a second place league overall finish behind only Wilson. The finish established Northern Valley as the league’s second playoff tournament seed and at least the second seed in the state playoff tournament starting later this month.

“We had a very successful 2022 season,” Seremula said. “We gelled well as a team and have a bunch of guys who enjoy the game and rooting on their fellow teammates.”

The win over the Falcons clinched a first-round bye. The Chargers’ first postseason game is scheduled for July 13 at Northwestern Lehigh High School. Their opponent will be determined following first round games held July 11.

“This is one of our best-ever seeds going into the playoffs and, as we have all season, we expect to be able to make a run in the postseason,” Seremula said.

The Chargers’ success has been a team effort. Bobby Croneberger, Josh Lichman, Shaun O’Donnell, Nick Buskirk, Joshua Farber and Connor Simms are some of the many outstanding players on the Chargers this year. Nowhere was that more evident when they played at home, where they lost but one game all season.

“With the exception of the championship game, two teams have to beat us at home, which we hope to use to our advantage,” Seremula said.

Seremula and his boys are pumped at the prospect of achieving postseason glory.

“It will be a fun experience for these kids for the next three weeks,” Seremula said. “We made a little run last year in the postseason and I know the kids from last year are hungry to do it again.”
