Richard J. Smith, 70, of Fogelsville, died June 29, 2022.
He was the husband of Cynthia Brode Smith.
A 1969 graduate of North Plainfield High School, he was also a graduate of Moravian College, Bethlehem.
He worked for the Lehigh County Department of Human Services for many years and owned a property management company.
Born in North Plainfield, N.J., he was a son of the late Robert and Helen (Ambrose) Smith, and brother of the late Mary Ellen Meskel and his late brother-in-law Thomas Meskel.
In addition to his wife, Cynthia Brode Smith, he is survived by a brother Robert E Smith Jr (Susan); sister Carolyn Smith; nieces Bonnie Barbour, Laura Maliani, Michelle Smith, Nikki Kane, Tracie Meskel, Nancy Feely and Montana Heisler; nephews Patrick Meskel and Scott Mulford; great-nieces Mia Maliani, Julia and Shana Thorpe, Cassie and Lily Meskel, and Skylar Mulford; great-nephews Peter and Luca Maliani, Jerome, Kyle and Ryan Barbour, Emmett, Seamus and Nolan Feely and Nick Meskel; and close friends Ed Derr, Mark Sackett, John Egerton and Tim Boyer.
An avid fisherman, great cook, and “cool” uncle, he enjoyed Notre Dame football.
He was well known for his sense of humor and his outgoing personality.
His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Aug. 6 in Keller Funeral Homes Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy and condolences may be offered at kellerfuneralhomes.com.
