CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Removal of the siding reveals the historic barn as it may have appeared in the 18th century. According to its website, The Knauss Homestead was built in 1777 by Heinrich Knauss. The residence was built in the tradition of German log homes of the time. The barn was built soon after. The Knauss Homestead is listed on the National Registry of Historical Landmarks.
