Jean M. Derr Lokez

Jean M. Derr Lokez, 96, of Emmaus, died June 28, 2022. Her first husband, Harold Derr, died in 1976 and her second husband, Anthony Lokez, died in 2020. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Horace B. and Alma C. (Erney) Strouse.

Her father built and owned Strouse’s Corner (now known as the Trivet Restaurant in Emmaus) where she and her family resided for many years.

She was a lifelong member of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Old Zionsville where she taught Sunday school and served as the parish secretary.

She was a graduate of Emmaus High School, Class of 1943 and worked for the East Penn School District as a secretary for many years.

She enjoyed crocheting, football and cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Derr Connolly; a son, James Derr (Pamela); grandsons, Josh Connolly (April), Matthew Connolly (Katie) and Timothy Connolly (Carrie); great-grandchildren, Maggie and Finn Connolly; stepchildren, Sylvia Nelson (Lance), Roxanne Reed (Denis) and Bryan Lokez (Leslie Buck); step-grandchildren, Eamonn and Liam McElroy. She was predeceased by siblings, James, Robert and Richard Strouse.

Contributions may be made to the church at P.O. Box 200, Old Zionsville, 18068 or a charity of one’s choice.

Services will be held 11 a.m. July 23 at Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville. A viewing will be held 10 to 11 a.m. July 23 in the church.
