Fireworks detonate inside Eastern Salisbury home July 4

Firefighters responded to a home in the 600 block of East Lynnwood Street July 4 for the report of fireworks detonating inside a dwelling. According to Eastern Salisbury Fire Department Chief Ian Dodson, the initial report was fireworks had landed into the house; however, it was determined fireworks detonated inside the dwelling. The cause of the discharged fireworks is still unknown. Dodson said the fire was initially contained to the dining room by the homeowner who immediately grabbed a fire extinguisher. The crew from Eastern Salisbury extinguished any remaining hot spots and ventilated the house. The property was turned back over to the owners. Departments responding to the Eastern Salisbury call included Eastern Salisbury Fire Department, Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company, Salisbury Township Police Department, Lower Saucon Fire Department, Emmaus Fire Department, Upper Saucon Fire Department, Lower Macungie (Rapid Intervention Team) and St. Luke's EMS.
