Bath: Tours, demonstrations, crafts part of event at historical society

Governor Wolf Historical Society, 6600 Jacksonville Road, will participate in Passport to History 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 16. Wander the grounds of the GWHS and walk through the 18th- and 19th-century buildings and the herb and other gardens. All buildings will also be open for tours.

Volunteers in period dress will offer information and insights into the life and times of the seventh governor of Pennsylvania, George Wolf. In addition, there will be demonstrations of hearth cooking, fraktur drawing, children’s crafts and tours of the new museum.

Admission and parking are free.

The Bath Museum, 121 S. Walnut St., is set to be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 16.

Volunteers are always welcome, including those who need to utilize community service hours.

Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Drive, will be having its church picnic 11:30 a.m. July 17 at the pavilion. There will be fun, fellowship, good food, horseshoes, corn hole, tractor rides and bingo.

Bring white elephant gifts or baked goods to share as prizes for bingo.

Help is needed to set up and clean up.

Covenant United Methodist Church, 2715 Mountain View Drive, will be having Vacation Bible School 6-8:30 p.m. July 18-22 for all ages. There will be games, snacks, surprising adventures and music. The theme is “Monumental, Celebrating God’s Greatness.”

A dinner will be held 5:30-6 p.m.

Summertime women’s Bible study at Emmanuel’s church will be 7 p.m. Monday evenings. The discussions will be on women of the Bible.

Contact Pastor Paulette or the church office at 610-837-1741 if interested in attending, or just show up in the old fellowship hall.

During the months of July and August, Emmanuel’s church will help Bath Area Food Bank by collecting canned vegetables, cleaning products, crackers and paper products. Donations for food can be dropped off in the bins in the fellowship hall or the upstairs gathering area.

Grocery gift cards - preferably Ahart’s - are always needed for emergencies. Bring all gift cards to the church office in an envelope marked “food bank.”
