The Lower Macungie Lehigh Valley Legion team won a pair of games last week and had another suspended in the first inning due to rain. The Mustangs improved to 7-3-1 as the season heads into its final week.
Lower Mac beat Southern Lehigh 14-1 last Monday, June 20. Joseph Cook had two hits and three runs scored in the win, while Jackson Merk went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a run.
Taylor Davis (5 innings pitched, 6 hits, 1 earned run, 5 strike outs) and Anthony McWhinney (1 IP, 1 H, 0ER, 1 K) combined to limit the Spartans.
Lower Mac beat Carbon County last Tuesday, 4-1 in the first game of a home-and-home series over two days. Four Lower Mac batters had one hit each in the game while pitcher Ryan Latchford went all seven innings and allowed just seven hits, one earned run and struck out four batters while pitching around three errors.
Last Wednesday’s game against Carbon County was suspended with Lower Mac trailing 2-0 in the first inning.
Heading into this week Lower Mac had six games left, not including the suspended game with Carbon. The team ends the regular season Friday, July 1 when it hosts Salisbury.
