Olde Homestead, NYAA launch golf skills elementary feeder program
The Northwestern Youth Athletic Association and the Olde Homestead Golf Club, New Tripoli, recently announced their joint venture to bring the first of its kind golf skills feeder program to the Lehigh Valley.
The NYAA program, targeted for elementary age children, launched in April for its inaugural season.
The new program offering is instructed by Olde Homestead’s golf professionals and is designed to introduce NYAA students to all areas of the game of golf.
During the season golfers have been exposed to short game, full swing, rules and etiquette in a relaxed and fun environment.
The students receive the skills necessary to kickoff their golf career and the program serves as an ideal conduit for the Northwestern Lehigh School District Varsity Golf program.
“Athletic feeder programs like those we offer through the NYAA are integral to our students’ confidence as they progress into their sports careers” said Amy Fatzinger, NYAA president.
“Early foundational skills are critical to our students being competitive for consideration in high school and ultimately college sports. This is even more important in a small school district like Northwestern.
“We are grateful Olde Homestead is open to welcoming our NYAA Tigers onto their course.”
The NYAA Golf Program, like other NYAA Program Sports, is open to all Northwestern Lehigh residents as well as residents from neighboring districts.
“My staff and I at Olde Homestead are very excited to partner with the NYAA to introduce more kids to the game of golf,” said Kevin Edwards, PGA director of golf, who is overseeing the NYAA program along with Teaching Professional Tim Miller and Adam Csencsits.
The NYAA Golf program kicked-off April 12.
Nearly 40 Northwestern Lehigh area students are participating in the first year of the program.
