Hokendauqua: Open house, tours planned for history program

Whitehall Historical Preservation Society will be a host for the Lehigh Valley Passport to History program.

An open house event, including tours, are set 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 9, 16 and 23 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 30 and 31, with the last two dates including a Civil War re-enactment with the 153rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Visit the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill and the Peter Grim Homestead, 501 and 506 Mickley Road, for this special program.

Reminder: Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association will continue to hold summer basketball Skills and Drills nights, for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade, 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in July and August at Hokendauqua Park, 3417 Lehigh St.

Boys will play the first and third Wednesdays, and girls will play the second and fourth Wednesdays.

The summer 2022 aqua aerobics program will soon begin. Classes will be held 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays July 21 through Aug. 16 at the Cementon Pool, located at Cementon Victor C. Talotta Park, 5185 Dewey St.

The cost is $30 for Whitehall residents and $35 for nonresidents.

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., will hold its Vacation Bible School 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 1-5, with a “Monumental - Celebrating God’s Greatness” theme. VBS is a free event for children ages 3-12.
