The Lower Macungie Planning Commission met June 14. The first part of the meeting was detailed in the June 22 edition of The Press.
An update was provided on the zone change requests. One property was at the corner of Brookside and Macungie roads.
The owner had been looking to convert the property to the East Texas Village III zone. The planning commission said the owner of the property had changed and no action was taken.
Another property is on Brookside Road by the post office and office buildings. The property neighbors the Liberty Lane apartments.
The owner proposed apartments similar to those on Liberty Lane. There would also be a building with landscaping equipment and an apartment above.
The zone change would create a bridge of urban zoning to include Liberty Lane Apartments, which are currently nonconforming in a suburban zone. No action was taken and the meeting was adjourned.
The next Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission meeting will be July 12. Usually the planning commission meets the second Tuesday of every month and occasionally there is a workshop meeting on the third Tuesday of the month. There are tentative plans for a workshop in July.
Workshops begin 6 p.m. while meetings begin 7 p.m. and currently all planning commission meetings will be held both in person and over Zoom with a video recording uploaded to the township’s YouTube channel after the fact.
