The July 4 holiday is right around the corner.

There will be many fireworks displays throughout the Lehigh Valley.

Enjoy picnics and parties to celebrate this American holiday, especially since we can start to mingle again.

Boy Scout Troop 79, of St. John the Baptist Church, holds its weekly meetings 7 p.m. Mondays in the parish hall at Ruch and Chestnut streets. Children can join the troop just by attending a meeting on any Monday.

This troop is very active and participates in camping activities. The troop spent last week at Camp Bashore, Bashore Scout Reservation, in Jonestown, near Lancaster at the foothills of the Blue Mountains.

Scouts hiked on trails, went canoeing and took part in archery and other activities.

Consider joining the Scouts to enjoy adventure, education and a lifetime of friendship.
