Ed Pany, former high school educator and councilman, stands beside a plaque affixed to the Tama building, 1798 Main St., noting its significance in the borough's history. Saul Kivert founded Tama Manufacturing in 1946. He moved the business to this location in 1953. Before Kivert converted the century-old building, it had been both a furniture and hardware store. Tama, which produced sportswear and specialized in ladies' slacks, at one time employed nearly 250 people. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
