North Catasauqua: J4 Celebration, mega CHS reunion is set for July 2
Catasauqua and North Catasauqua residents, and their friends and family, are invited to come together and take part in the J4 Celebration at North Catasauqua William Jr. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St., July 2.
The rain date is July 3.
The J4 Celebration is in loving memory of all past members and in honor of the present committee.
Food stands, music, craft tables, flea market articles and games for adults and children will take place following the opening ceremony.
The schedule is as follows: opening ceremony, 11 a.m.; CHS mega reunion begins, 11 a.m.; crafts, flea market and food stands open, 11:15 a.m.; basketball games for boys, 11:15 a.m.; corn hole competition, noon; basketball games for girls, 12:15 p.m.; YMCA children’s events, 1 p.m.; Common Bond performance, 1-4 p.m.; J4 holiday drawing, 4 p.m.; pre-fireworks show at Alumni Field featuring Flirtin’ with the Mob, 7-9 p.m.; and fireworks, 9 p.m.
The mega Catasauqua High School reunion is for every class to be all together at one time!
Also invited are friends who went to CHS and moved, didn’t finish or lived in Catasauqua and went to Central Catholic or other schools. Organizers also look forward to seeing past and present teachers and staff.

The flea market is an excellent time to dispose of previously owned treasures and oddball items.
Display and sell your arts, crafts and hobby items. Contact Catasauqua Mayor Barbara Schlegel at 610-264-1466 to make sure a space is reserved for you.
There is a cost.
The setup time is 8-10:30 a.m.
There is no charge for food stands operated by civic organizations, but there is a charge for all others. The civic organizations can use this as a fundraiser.

The fireworks are donated in memory of Elaine Hahn Dopsovic, valedictorian of the CHS Class of 1982.
If you would like to make a donation to help with the J4 Celebration, send it to J4 Celebration, P.O. Box 224, Catasauqua, 18032. The categories are red patrons, $100-plus; white, $50-$99; and blue, $49 and under.

George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets, Catasauqua, will be open 10 a.m.-noon July 4 for tours. The Declaration of Independence will be read noon.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association will hold an open house at Biery House, 8 Race St., Catasauqua, to explore Catasauqua’s history and art gallery. It will be open 1-4 p.m. the second Sunday of July, August and September.

North Catasauqua Recreation Committee has planned an active and fun summertime program. All events are held at the North Catasauqua park.
Events are free to the public, except as noted. A monetary donation to the nonprofit group, which is dedicated to keeping the local park well maintained, is always welcomed.

Band concerts include The Clap, 7 p.m. Aug. 5; and Steel Creek, 7 p.m. Aug. 24.
The Steel Creek show has a rain date of 7 p.m. Aug. 25.
Family Night will be held Aug. 17.
The recreation committee will be accepting donations for the food bank at family night and summer concert events.
