Library offering a variety of kids, teen, adult programs

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will show the movie “Matrix Resurrections” for adults 1-3 p.m. June 17 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library will have a Rainbow Pride Story Time featuring LGBTQIA books and songs 10-10:45 a.m. on June 18 for kids ages 2 and older in the Karen Tamerler Children’s Meeting Room.
Wear your favorite color or go all out and dress as a rainbow.

Join the library and Lehigh Valley Dive Center for A Deep Dive into Scuba 11 a.m. to noon June 18 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
Learn about the basics of scuba, what it takes to be a diver, and hear personal stories from professional scuba divers. All ages and abilities are welcome to attend.

Baby story time for kids ages birth to 15 months with an adult caregiver will take place from 10:30-11 a.m. June 20 and 27 at the library.
Library staff will share simple books, lap bounces, rhymes, and songs, all designed to help babies build important social, motor, and early literacy skills.

Family Story Time Summer Session for families with children ages 1-5 will be offered 10-10:30 a.m. June 21 and 28 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
There will be songs, rhymes, and read-aloud stories.

A Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night in-person meeting for students in seventh through 12th grade from 6-8 p.m. June 20 at the library.

Bring a favorite book and practice reading to the patient and gentle Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs 6:30-7:30 p.m. on June 20 and 27 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library is hosting a Water Bottle Sea Creatures program for kids entering first through fifth grade 2-3 p.m. on June 21 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
Come and transform a water bottle into a sea creature of your choice.

Join yoga instructor Deanna Nagle for her gentle yoga for adults from 4-5 p.m. June 21 and 28 at the library.
She will guide participants through a range of motions to improve energy and focus, decrease pain in the body, and calm the central nervous system.

Book Club will meet to discuss the novel “The Dutch House” by Ann Patchett 7-8 p.m. June 21 at the library.

Adults join library staff at 1 p.m. June 22 for a screening of “Sealab,” a documentary about the early history of research into the ocean floor followed by a brief discussion.
The library’s Countdown to Kindergarten program will take place 1:30-2:0 p.m. June 22 and 29 in the Karen Tamerler Children’s Meeting Room at the library.
This story time series will combine early learning skills and hands-on activities with favorite books to support future school success. This program is for kids ages 4 and older.
Kids learn about gardening through the library’s “Growing Together” story time and hands-on experience 4:30-5 p.m. June 22 in the Karen Tamerler Children’s Meeting Room.
This month’s topic is dirt and compost.

Basic in Vegetable Gardening Part 2 for adults will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 22 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
Master Gardener Bob Yoder will give a comprehensive talk on gardening and proper watering techniques, companion plants and more.
Color Creations with Da Vinci Science Center for teens in grades five through 12 will take place 2-3 p.m. on June 23 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
Have tons of fun mixing colors, matching shades, and tinting with this coral reef fish experiment slideshow.

Young Critics Book Club for third- through sixth grade students will discuss the novel “Overboard” by Terry Lynn Johnson 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 23 in the Karen Tamerler Children’s Meeting Room.

The library will be showing the movie “Aquaman” for adults 1-3:30 p.m. June 24 at the library. Light refreshments will be provided.
