Leona J. Smith, 86, of Macungie, died June 9, 2022, at Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the loving wife of the late Earl Smith for 61 years until his death in 2016. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. & Carrie E. (Fegley) Oswald.

She was a proud graduate of Emmaus High School’s “Class of ‘54” and served on the reunion committee for many years.

She was an honored member of the Lehigh Valley Couturiere Society and an avid seamstress.

She was the owner of the former “LJ Smith Dress Shop” in Emmaus and later worked for Fast Foto and Ames Department Store.

She is survived by daughters, Karen Plarr (Ken), Kathryn Crist (Dan); sons, Eric (Angie), Brian (Nancy); seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace C. Schlichter; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers; a grandson, Sgt. Joshua B.

Contributions may be made to The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.

Services will be held 11 a.m. July 2 at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. Family visitation 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 2.
