‘Cherish the time you have together’

The Notre Dame HS senior class of 2022 began its procession into the school stadium sharply at 4 p.m. June 4 for their final experience as students. The National Anthem was sung by senior Marisa Lippincott and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Student Council President Alexandria Nehme. Notre Dame Chaplain Reverend Daniel Kravatz provided the invocation and all were welcomed by Principal Jaclyn Freil.

Salutatorian Lucas Anmolsingh told the audience, “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have an outstanding education, including a unique relationship with God.” He spoke of the unusual challenges this class faced and “the importance of perseverance and adaptability,” and reminded his classmates that there will be more challenges and opportunities ahead, but the skills acquired at ND will help them through.

Director of Operations Cheryl Muller-Fenton listed the many student awards, including more than $9 million in scholarships. Students from the class of 2022 have been accepted at 176 institutions for higher learning.

Valedictorian Sheila Miller empathized with her peers’ nerves and shared lessons she has learned at Notre Dame. ”Cherish the time you have together – it goes so fast and you don’t know when it may be gone. Be kind to everyone, even those you don’t know, because you don’t know what they are going through.”

Principal Jaclyn Freil presented 132 graduateds with diplomas; they are the 64th graduating class of Notre Dame, Green Pond. ”Thank you for making the sacrifices that come along with choosing a Catholic education. Even though this is a new beginning, Notre Dame will always be there for you.”

Freil gifted outgoing Student Council President Ryan Kothstein and Vice President Caitlyn Stackhouse with gavels bearing the student council motto, “To lead is to serve.”
