Roughies Report: Rau earns award from Lehigh Career and Technical Institute

Colby Rau, a Lehigh Career and Technical Institute pre-engineering and engineering technology student, was awarded an Outstanding Academic Center Senior Award at the 2022 senior recognition night, held May 31 at PPL Center, Allentown.

Lehigh Career and Technical Institute presents the Outstanding Academic Center Senior Award to two full-day seniors who perform at a high academic level and demonstrate the ability to build relationships with their peers and staff while consistently exhibiting professionalism and leadership in the academic center. The academic center is LCTI’s full-day option for students who want to integrate their academic studies with their career and technical training.

Rau is a National Technical Honor Society member, a cooperative education participant and the top senior in his career and technical education program for 2022.

Any student interested in a two-week summer experience to learn more about radio and television production should consider Production U, offered to students in ninth through 12th grades through PBS and 91.3 WLRV.

The cost for the two-week experience is $300 and runs 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 11-22.

Space is limited, and scholarship opportunities to participate may be available.

Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is hosting two youth leadership empowerment achievement development camps this summer for high school students in the Lehigh Valley.

Participants will develop critical leadership skills while working to support nonprofit organizations through service projects.

The camp is being offered two weeks this year - 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 11-15 and July 25-29. Both camp sessions will be held at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem.

The cost is $100 per session, and the application deadline is June 25.

LCTI’s surplus inventory auction will take place 4 p.m. July 15 behind the distribution center/HEO lab on the campus, 4500 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville. The articles listed for sale are being sold “as is, with all faults and as inspected.”

Pennsylvania sales tax will be charged on all purchases unless proof of exemption is presented. Cash or Pennsylvania checks only will be accepted as payment. No credit will be extended.
