The second meeting of the month for Alburtis Borough Council was held May 25, began without public comment and quickly moved to the mayor’s report.
In her only item, Mayor Kathleen Palmer administered the oath of office to new Alburtis part-time police officer Craig Williams.
Following the mayor’s report, the previous meeting minutes and bills for payment were approved. The bills totaled $38,478.
In the Macungie Ambulance report, eight calls were made to the borough of Alburtis throughout the month of April. No other emergency crews were called in for assistance.
There were four items in administration.
Fiscal consultant Chris DeFrain tendered his resignation. DeFrain is the budget and finance chairperson for the borough of Emmaus.
Next was the discussion on purchasing “Hometown Heroes” banners to be displayed around Alburtis. These are flags placed on light posts or fixtures displaying veterans from the area.
Following the discussion, an announcement was made the Lions Club Dogs for Diabetes Fundraiser was planned for June 4 at Alburtis Borough Hall.
In other community news, the final exterior mural at the Alburtis Community Pool is now complete.
Lastly, Boy Scout Zachary Bernhart announced his Eagle Scout Project is now complete. The project was the updated landscape to the memorial plaque located at the Alburtis Lockridge Historical Society right off Church and Franklin streets.
The next Alburtis Borough Council meeting will be held 7 p.m. June 8 at borough hall, 260 Franklin St., Alburtis.
