Police: No charges in ride-share complaint

Catasauqua Police Department has announced no charges will be filed in the reported harassment incident that occurred May 13 outside of Fossil’s Last Stand, 429 Race St.

According to a news release from Catasauqua police, Jackie Harford, owner of Fossil’s, called for a ride-share driver that night. When the driver arrived at Fossil’s, Harford reportedly commented on how he was “a white guy” and spoke English, according to the report.

The driver asked Harford to exit the vehicle and said he did not want to take the fare because he believed her comments to be inappropriate.

“She exited, and her boyfriend made a threat to [the driver] and slammed the door,” according to the police report.

The driver then filed a police report with the department.

“After investigation and conferring with the district attorney’s office, no charges are to be filed,” police said.
