University of Scranton
Frey inducted into honor society
Emily Frey, of Whitehall, was among 45 University of Scranton students inducted into Phi Lambda Upsilon, the national honorary chemical society. The honor society accepts students with 24 credits in chemistry and a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The university’s chapter of the honor society was established in 1975.
Frey is a graduate student biochemistry major at the Jesuit university, located in northeastern Pennsylvania.
ESU
Knauff earns degree
Five doctoral degrees were awarded during East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania’s commencement exercises May 7 at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Alicia Knauff, of Whitehall, was among those awarded. She received a Doctorate of Education in administration and leadership studies.
Knauff is an assistant principal at her alma mater, Whitehall High School, where she is lifelong resident. After graduating from Cedar Crest College in 2001, she began her teaching career in the Allentown School District. After earning her master’s degree in TESOL from DeSales University, she began at Whitehall-Coplay School District in 2006 and later earned her principal certification from Cabrini University before beginning the doctoral program at ESU. She is the proud mother of three girls, Shadimon, Amaya and Jade.

Today, ESU is a comprehensive university in northeastern Pennsylvania offering 58 undergraduate programs, 21 master’s programs and two doctoral program. Muhlenberg College
Abdouche inducted into honor society
Rasha Abdouche, of Whitehall, is one of 19 students recently inducted into Tri-Alpha, an honor society for first-generation college students, at Muhlenberg College. To be eligible for Tri-Alpha Honor Society, students must have completed at least three full-time terms, earned an overall GPA of 3.2 and come from a family where neither parent nor any legal guardians earned a bachelor’s degree.
Alpha Alpha Alpha was founded in 2018 at Moravian College, an initiative of Associate Provost Carol Traupman-Carr. Muhlenberg is the Delta, or fourth, chapter of Tri-Alpha in the country.
Albright College
Rodgers graduates
Cameron Patrick Rodgers, of Northampton, earned a Bachelor of Science degree during Albright College’s 162nd commencement ceremony at Santander Arena May 15. The event was livestreamed on Albright’s commencement website. Ceremony speakers included Albright President Jacquelyn S. Fetrow, 1982; Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit Roger L. Gregory; and graduating senior Kenneth Rolon, 2022.
A graduate of Northampton Area High School, Rodgers majored in business administration: economics, finance as a member of the Class of 2022.

Hofstra University
Blazofsky earns degree
Joy Blazofsky, of Whitehall, graduated from Hofstra University in December 2021, earning an Master of Arts in creative arts therapy counseling.
Hofstra University is a nationally ranked and recognized private university in Hempstead, N.Y., that is the only school to ever host three consecutive presidential debates (2008, 2012 and 2016). Lebanon Valley College
Kroboth receives award
Jessica Kroboth, of Whitehall, was recognized as one of 23 Lebanon Valley College students who recorded at least 100 community service hours and taken part in an approved service trip or recorded at least 250 total hours, with 100 or more served in the community. Kroboth, a graduate of Whitehall High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy in exercise science and physical therapy from The Valley.
Lebanon Valley College offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and graduate degrees in accounting/MBA (3+1), applied kinesiology, athletic training, business administration, clinical exercise physiology, clinical mental health counseling, education, intelligence and security studies, music education, speech-language pathology, sport performance and STEM education and numerous graduate certificates.
The college employs 122 full-time faculty members. Of the permanent faculty, 83% have Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degrees. The student-faculty ratio is 12:1, with an average class size of 20. These numbers reflect the college’s commitment to student-centered curricula, individualized attention and immersive learning experiences.
Bob Jones University
Nevin named to president’s list
Caleb Nevin, a freshman engineering major from Walnutport, was among more than 620 Bob Jones University students named to the spring 2022 president’s list. The president’s list recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher GPA for the semester.

Students graduate
A total of 1,021 students received degrees from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at a commencement ceremony May 8 at Eiler-Martin Stadium. A total of 800 bachelor’s degrees, 214 master’s degrees and seven doctoral degrees were awarded. Fall 2021 graduates, whose degrees were conferred in December 2021, were invited to participate in the ceremony.

Students named to president’s list
Southern New Hampshire University congratulates the following students on being named to the winter 2022 president’s list. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.7 and above are named to the president’s list. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits; undergraduate day students must earn 12 credits in the fall or spring semester, and online students must earn 12 credits over two consecutive terms (EW1 & EW2, EW3 & EW4, or EW5 & EW6).
