The Upper Milford Township Recreation Commission meets June 20 in the Fulmer nature preserve

Upper Milford Township Recreation Commission invites you to take a walk in the park.

The commission will meet 7 p.m. June 20 at the Harry G. Fulmer III Nature Preserve, 3620 Quarry Drive.

In the event of bad weather, the meeting will be held at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St.

The meeting agenda will include a walk through the park.

The commission plans to meet monthly in the parks throughout the township this year. The April meeting was scheduled for Lenape Park and the May meeting took the commission to Jasper Park. The July 18 meeting is scheduled for Churchview Park, 4602 Kohler Road.

If indoor pursuits in the warmer temperatures are more your style, consider attending the June 30 meeting of the Upper Milford Historical Society.

The society meets in the township building 7 p.m.

Attendees will learn about the Yoder family in the program titled “Paul and Nate Yoder - Yoder Immigration from Switzerland to Oley Valley and Beyond.”

Turnpike bridge closures in Upper and Lower Milford townships continue through the fall.

Detours are posted for the Vera Cruz Road bridge in Upper Milford Township and the Cassel Road Bridge in Lower Milford Township.

The closures are expected to continue through early November.

Lower Milford Township Supervisors next meet 6:30 p.m. June 2 at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Road.

Upper Milford Township Supervisors next meet 7 p.m. June 2 and June 16 in the township building, 5671 Chestnut St.

Upper and Lower Milford townships boast impressive agricultural traditions and the fruits of these labors can be seen and enjoyed at many local farmers markets this time of year. You may spot Upper Milford and Lower Milford-based farmers at area outdoor markets in Coopersburg, Emmaus and Macungie boroughs as well as in the respective townships. Visit their stands and take home some fresh produce or other quality finds from local farmers and vendors

Township offices will be closed July 4 for Independence Day.
