Hokendauqua: Pool passes will be on sale May 26

Pool passes will be on sale 4-6 p.m. May 26 at the Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road. Passes are for Whitehall residents only, and proof of ID is required.

The cost is as follows.

Resident family pass: $150 for two adults and two children (additional child: $25)

Resident adult season pass: $60

Resident student pass (up to and including 2022 high school graduates): $50

Cash or checks, made out to Whitehall Township, will be accepted.

Cost for general admission is $8 per person. Children under 6 years old and seniors 62 and older are free.

The two pools will operate on a rotation. Parkview Pool, 3051 S. Fifth St., Hokendauqua, will be open noon-7 p.m. Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Cementon Pool, 5185 Dewey St., will be open noon-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Cementon location will be closed the week of the Cement Belt Fair, which is set for June 27-July 2.

The opening weekend for the pools is June 18 and 19.

Mark your calendar for the free annual fishing derby, sponsored by Whitehall Township Recreation Bureau. The event, which is open to children 15 years old and younger, will be May 28 at Hokendauqua Park, 3417 Lehigh St.

Registration will be 8-8:45 a.m., and the contest runs 9 a.m.-noon.

You must bring your own bait and tackle.

Refreshments are provided by Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association.

A joint Memorial Day service, in which American Legion Jones Quigg Post 739, Hokendauqua, is set to participate, is planned for 11:30 a.m. May 30 at the memorial site in front of the township municipal building.

HPPA will hold summer basketball Skills and Drills nights, for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade, 6-7:30 p.m. in June, July and August at Hokendauqua Park, 3417 Lehigh St. Boys will play the first and third Wednesdays, and girls will play the second and fourth Wednesdays.

Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce, Whitehall Township and Whitehall Historical Preservation Society are organizing the first-ever Whitehall Heritage Fest, scheduled for 1-5 p.m. June 25.

The festival will feature local vendors, live music, family activities, historical re-enactments and more.
