John P. Washburn, 79, of Emmaus, died May 10, 2022, in Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Renate (Scharfe) Washburn. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William H. and Grace E. (McMullen) Washburn.
He honorably served his country in the Army in Germany and Vietnam.
He was a self-employed salesman.
He enjoyed going to ball games, fishing and especially spending time in Florida.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Allentown.
He was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer at the VA outreach center in Coatesville.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Michael Jay and his wife, Holly, of Easton and Mark Kevin and his wife, Stephanie, of Whitehall; grandsons, Jared Michael and Sean Nikolas; a brother, Peter and his wife, Carol, of Slatedale. He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy, Joseph, Billy and Erwin.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. May 28 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
