FREEDOM HS NEWS - Good old days BY EMMA LAZO
“I wish there was a way to know you’re in the old days before you’ve actually left them.”
Andy Bernard
After two years of the sense of uncertainty inflicted by COVID-19, Freedom’s return to complete in-person instruction and the removal of the mask mandate added a much-needed sense of a return to normalcy. The bumpy roller coaster ride stops as we wrap up the month of May. The Freedom Family has grown strong during these crucial times, but the support, friendships, and memories make the days at Freedom “the good old days.”
The journey is not over yet; we still have a couple of weeks remaining with plenty to do. On May 17, the school was closed to all students due to Primary Election Day during the school hours, but at 6:30 p.m., the Academic Awards ceremony began. Students took the Keystone Exams May 18, 19 and 20. May 19 was also the day of the Art Show.
Yearbook signing for the class of 2022 happened May 20. The following week, final exams are being administered on May 25, 26 and 27. June 3, the graduating class of 2022 will enjoy a delicious breakfast and a good time with their friends at the Senior Breakfast from 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. The moment the class of 2022 has been waiting for, graduation, will take place on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m.
There is much to look forward to, but we can’t forget about the great things the Patriots are currently doing. Our sports teams have been dominating lately. On May 3, the softball team beat Easton 11-0, followed by another win on May 5 against Liberty 9-8.
Boys volleyball is unstoppable. On May 3, the team won 3-0 versus Dieruff and did it again with a score of 3-0 in its Liberty game May 4. Boys and girls lacrosse continues the streak. On May 2, the boys beat Nazareth 13-5, and on May 4 beat Liberty 20-4.
The girls destroyed Liberty as well, with a score of 16-4 May 4. As all of the spring sports at Freedom come to a close, senior nights gave the senior athletes a heartwarming goodbye. Their mark will always remain on the track, field or court, no matter where life takes them.
The first two weeks of May, Advanced Placement exams occurred throughout the school days. The stress and hours of studying paid off with a sweet finish to the week with the prom. The event happened May 13; students got to spend their time eating great food and dancing the night away, meanwhile looking amazing. Thanks to the students and faculty at Freedom HS for helping to end the school year on a high note.
