Astound grants Boys & Girls Clubs $35K

Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem, a nonprofit organization focused on youth development in the Lehigh Valley, has announced financial support totaling $35,000 from Astound Broadband, powered by RCN.

The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem was established in 1930. Today, the organization continues the work of enabling young people, especially those in most need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens in Bethlehem and surrounding communities.

Astound Broadband powered by RCN is a local, award-winning service provider of high-speed internet, TV and phone services to residents and businesses across Pennsylvania. As RCN, Astound has been part of the Greater Lehigh Valley and Delaware County communities for years, both as an employer and service provider to residents and businesses here. Astound continues to be powered by passionate local teams, dedicated to the people and communities it serves, bringing customers astounding services and products.

The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem will bolster its programming in areas focused on providing members with educational support, healthy lifestyles and experiential learning opportunities. With over 500 members ranging in age from 5-18 years, there are many varying needs dependent on each member’s age and individual demographics. This contribution is not just an investment in the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem, but also an investment in future neighbors, professionals and community leaders to come.

“As co-chair of the Diversity Advisory Group at Astound, I can confirm we value inclusion across our business and also the service programs in which we participate, helping to provide equitable opportunities for residents across the country,” said VP & General Manager of Astound Broadband Pennsylvania Sanford Ames Jr. “Astound Broadband is dedicated to ensuring equitable opportunities for all and the partnership we have with the Boys and Girls Club is actively working to create that equity in the Lehigh Valley. The work these organizations provide our communities, specifically the mentoring programs, creates a sense of belonging and inclusion for our youth is one that Astound Broadband wholeheartedly supports.”

“The work of supporting youth, particularly within the realm of Diversity Equity & Inclusion, is a laborious task. The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem knows this as we serve a great portion of youth from BIPOC and other marginalized groups, and work to provide equitable access to opportunities,” said Winston Alozie, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem. “Astound’s clear and bold support of equity through youth development is much appreciated.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem sincerely thanks Astound for boldly donating $35,000 to bolster its work in this area. “It is our hope that other companies in the Lehigh Valley will be as openly committed as Astound, and put their ‘skin in the game’ as well. Thank you Astound for helping make the Lehigh Valley a better place for all its residents!”
