Betty J. Tonelis, 86, a former resident of Whitehall and Allentown, died peacefully May 6, 2022, in North Carolina.

She and her husband Edward Tonelis were married 44 years at the time of his death in 2000.

Born in Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. and Katie E. (Nunemacher) Rehrig.

A 1953 graduate of Slatington High School, she worked in customer service for Lehigh Valley Health Network for more than 35 years before retiring in 2000.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Whitehall, and the Golden Agers.

She enjoyed her memberships in the LVHN Retirees and AARP in Northampton.

Her survivors include daughter-in-law Kathy Tonelis of Kings Mountain, N.C.; granddaughters Tanya Tonelis, and Katrina Hillman and husband Anthony; great-grandchildren Jayden and Kennedy Byers, and Khloe Hillman; nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was predeceased by daughter Michele Tonelis in 2003, son Michael Tonelis in 2015, sisters Mamie Snyder and Evelyn Rehrig and brothers Raymond, James and Larry Rehrig.
