FHS lacrosse teams set

Freedom’s boys and girls lacrosse programs hope that this spring can continue their rise in the sport, as they venture to the District 11 tournaments this week.

The boys are eyeing a trip to the finals when they open quarterfinal action Thursday night at 7 p.m. against Emmaus at home in a four-five matchup.

Freedom (14-4) defeated Emmaus 10-8 in their only encounter this season, as the winner of Thursday’s showdown gets a meeting with top-seeded Delaware Valley in next Tuesday’s semifinals.

The bottom of the bracket has third-seeded Parkland open play on Thursday against sixth-seeded Nazareth at 4 p.m. with the winner taking on EPC runner-up and second-seeded Easton next Tuesday.

Emmaus was last year’s District 11 3A champion and ousted Freedom in the semifinals.

On the girls side, the Pates open the tournament Thursday at 4 p.m. at home against Parkland in a four-five matchup.

The Pates lost to the Trojans 10-7 earlier this season, but hope to reverse that this time around with a date against top-seeded Emmaus on the line next Monday.

The other side of the bracket features EPC champion Pleasant Valley hosting Delaware Valley in a three-six matchup with the winner taking on second-seeded Easton.

Freedom (11-5) made their first-ever run to the district finals last season and hope they can find some of that magic for a repeat trip.
