Customers come out for E. Allen market

The East Allen Township Farmers Market is officially open at Bicentennial Park West, off Colony Drive. The market, which previously ran Wednesdays, held its grand opening of the new season May 13 and will follow the new schedule - 3:30-6:30 p.m. Fridays - until Sept. 2.

The farmers market features locally sourced goods, including bath products, clothing, jewelry and baked goods. The vendors gathered under a pavilion near the basketball courts and shared the space with local food vendor Wrap’D Tight from Bethlehem Township.

Despite being overcast with periods of rain, residents came out to support and enjoy all of the local treats.

Bath residents Jim and Michele Mishko were present with their home business, The Bath Soap Company. Michele Mishko said the company first developed from their family’s personal need for a clean and natural product to cure Jim Mishko’s recurring poison ivy.

The shop now sells that product, along with several other scents, such as lavender mint, coffee and cream and Irish forest.

The market offered a variety of treats and unique finds that can only be found at local markets.

Vendor David Diaz, of Gourmet Peanut Butter n’ More, was marketing his homemade peanut butter he says is made from the Spanish peanut. His peanut butter also comes in several special flavors, such as maple bacon, ginger and salted caramel. The stand offered more than 32 different flavors, and samples were encouraged.

If you are a local farmer, vendor or have a food truck and are interested in participating, contact Chuck Frantz at 610-262-7961, ext. 305, or send an email to recreation@eatwp.org.

The farmers market next opens 3:30-6:30 p.m. May 20.
