Betty J. Tonelis, 86, a former resident of Whitehall and Allentown, died May 6, 2022, in North Carolina. She was the wife of the late Edward Tonelis for 44 years.

Born in Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. and Katie E. (Nunemacher) Rehrig.

She was a 1953 graduate of Slatington High School.

She worked in customer service for the Lehigh Valley Health Network for more than 35 years before she retired in 2000.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, Whitehall, and the Golden Agers.

She was a member of the LVHN Retirees and AARP, Northampton.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Tonelis of Kings Mountain, N.C.; two granddaughters, Tanya Tonelis and Katrina Hillman and husband Anthony; three great-grandchildren, Jayden and Kennedy Byers and Khloe Hillman; nieces; nephews; and extended family.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Michele Tonelis; a son, Michael Tonelis; two sisters, Mamie Snyder and Evelyn Rehrig; and three brothers, Raymond, James and Larry Rehrig.
