Bags & Beer Cornhole Tournament 1-5 p.m. at Gio Italian Grill, 6465 Village Lane, Macungie, sponsored by the Emmaus Rotary Club. There is a charge for general admission (all you can eat and drink) and cornhole tournament registration. Attendees must be at least 21 years of age. The Emmaus Historical Society will present “The Circus is Coming to the Valley” 7 p.m. at the Emmaus Moravian Church, Fellowship Hall, 146 Main St., Emmaus. The entrance is from the parking lot in the rear of the building. A brief meeting and elections will be held before the program. The program will be presented by Bob Good. All are welcome to attend this free event. Refreshments served immediately following the program.

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host a program on the Village of Shimerville 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville. Doors will open 6 p.m.

May 29, 30

The Emmaus Honor Guard will honor veterans at each of the six cemeteries May 29. Each program will include a short prayer service, rifle salute and taps. The programs start 8 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery followed by Old Moravian at Ridge Street, Lutheran Reformed, Northwood and end at Evangelical at Second and Ridge streets. Emmaus will host its annual Memorial Day parade May 30. The parade will form 9 a.m. at the Emmaus High School parking lot, move to Chestnut Street and head to the memorial site at the intersection of Third and Fourth streets where a memorial service will be held.

The Macungie Memorial V.F.W. Post No. 9264 will hold its annual Macungie Memorial Day Observances May 29 and May 30. On May 29, there will be graveside ceremonies following this schedule: St. Peter’s Union Church 10:15 a.m.; Macungie Fairview Cemetery 11 a.m.; Solomon’s Church 11:30 a.m.; Old Zionsville Zion’s Lutheran Church noon and Bethany United Methodist East Texas Cemetery 12:30 p.m. On May 30, there will be a flag raising and wreath ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at Macungie Memorial Park 10:30 a.m. and a memorial service 11 a.m. at the Macungie Veterans Association, 287 Lehigh St., Macungie. The Emmaus Historical Society is participating in the borough’s community yard sale. Furniture, housewares, glassware and seasonal items – shop till you drop at 218 Main St. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date is June 5.

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 150 Elm St., Emmaus, community yard sale 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Household items, small appliances, sporting goods etc. will be sold to benefit mission and ministry in the Emmaus area. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 484-358-6093.

Community Music School’s annual spring brunch and silent auction at Lehigh Country Club, 2319 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown. Musical performances will be given by CMS faculty and students. The Emmaus Rotary Club will host the annual Flag Day celebration 6 p.m. in the Arts Pavilion at Emmaus Community Park, 1389 Shimerville Road, Emmaus. The program includes Emmaus veterans; Girl Scouts; Boy Scouts; fifth grade students who wrote poems; eighth grade students who wrote essays; St. JD Collier, U.S. Naval Academy graduate; The Rev. Ryan K. Schnake, associate pastor of the Concordia Lutheran Church and chaplain, U.S. Army Reserves; Nathan Brown; Emmaus Mayor Lee Ann Gilbert and musical presentations. Lehigh Carbon Community College will host the 18th annual LCCC Foundation Scholarship Clay Shoot at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays in Coplay. Registrations are open to the public and are now being accepted. All proceeds for this event will benefit students in the college’s workforce programs, advanced manufacturing, CDL, trade and certificate training including students who are active military or veterans. Entry includes 100 rounds of clay shooting, shells for the event, continental breakfast, awards and Pig Roast lunch. The Emmaus Garden Club is hosting a garden tour of seven local gardens 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be included and shopping from several vendors will also be available 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a cost. Tickets can be purchased at Dan Schantz Greenhouse, Eagle Point Farm Market, Faith Presbyterian Church Emmaus (day of the tour only), Herbein’s Garden Center and Lehigh Valley Home & Garden Center. All proceeds benefit the East Penn Neighbors helping Neighbors Organization.
