Boys track ready for postseason

The Parkland boys track and field program hasn’t only been good during the 2022 season. The Trojans have been perfect.

Last Tuesday’s 98-52 victory over rival Emmaus concluded an 8-0 regular season and was in part the product of togetherness.

“We are a family,” Parkland coach Stephen Ott said. “That along with competition is very important to our team success.”

The battle against the Hornets produced several winners, none bigger than Dylan Simon who darted to a 10.3 personal best time to win the 100-meter sprint. Dylan Simon claimed the 200-meters, Brady Hoffman won the 800-meter run and Avi Hochhauser was first in the 3,200-meters. Tyler Hoysan won the 110-meter hurdles, while Andrew Beers claimed the 300-meter hurdles. The Trojans swept also all three relay races.

Nathan Kemmerer won the shot put, Julius Reyes claimed the discus and Andrew Nguyen won the javelin.

The boys are looking forward now to the postseason, which starts with the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference tournament and then the District 11 Class 3A.

“The momentum has grown through the season and continues to grow as we approach the postseason,” Ott said. “They want to improve and win. This is their chance to shine. Our coaching staff wants to see them accomplish all of their goals, no matter how big or small.”

The EPC meet is scheduled for May 10 and 11 at Whitehall’s Zephyr Sports Complex.
