Northampton: Historical society has WWII clippings
Northampton Area Historical Society invites the public to visit the Siegfried Railroad Station, on West 21st Street, to view scrapbook entries of newspaper clippings featuring the local men and women who served our country during World War II.
The society has received four scrapbooks that contain articles, photos and information of hundreds of soldiers, sailors, nurses and more who went off to fight after the Pearl Harbor attack more than 80 years ago.
If you would like to view this collection, which is indexed, bring your cellphone or camera if you want to get a picture of someone from your family or a neighbor. If you cannot find them in the index, you will have an opportunity to enter your person into the historical society’s records. All will be included in a memorial service to be held in November.
The station will be open 1-4 p.m. the third Sunday of each month May 15 through October.
