Hokendauqua: Faith Lutheran gets interim pastor

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church has welcomed an interim pastor, Peggy Wuertele.

Wuertele’s role in this position is to provide pastoral care, preach and prepare the church for a new next pastor.

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., will host a Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative free community meal 4-6:30 p.m. May 17.

Meals are for low-income Whitehall and Coplay households and are guaranteed for the first 100 guests.

Mark your calendar for the free annual fishing derby, sponsored by Whitehall Township Recreation Bureau. The event, which is open to children 15 years old and younger, will be May 28 at Hokendauqua Park, 3417 Lehigh St.

Registration will be 8-8:45 a.m., and the contest runs 9 a.m.-noon.

You must bring your own bait and tackle.

Refreshments are provided by Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association.

Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce, Whitehall Township and Whitehall Historical Preservation Society are organizing the first-ever Whitehall Heritage Fest, scheduled for 1-5 p.m. June 25.

The festival will feature local vendors, live music, family activities, historical re-enactments and more.
