Catasauqua: J4 committee sets planning meeting

A planning meeting for the J4 celebration is set for 7 p.m. May 12 at the North Catasauqua Municipal Building, Fourth and Arch streets.

The event will be taking place July 2 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St., beginning 11 a.m. and ending with fireworks at dusk at Alumni Field, 850 Pine St.

In addition to the J4 celebration, there will be a mega Catasauqua High School reunion.

The South Catasauqua annual neighborhood yard sale is planned for 8 a.m.-2 p.m. May 13 and 14, rain or shine. It will be held at locations south of Race Street up to and including Circle Drive.

Catasauqua Garden Club is having its annual plant sale 9 a.m.-noon May 14 on the grassy area in front of Melvin’s Farm Stand, 327 Front St., Catasauqua. Many plants are expected, including tomatoes (heirloom and newer varieties), other vegetable plants, houseplants, annuals, perennials and several different succulents.

Penn State University soil test kits will be available, as will answers to your gardening questions.

The Morning Glories of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church will meet 10 a.m. May 16 at the church, 604 Fourth St.

Jenae Holtzhafer, from The Kindness Project, will be the speaker.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., will be having an Armed Forces Day block party May 21.

There will be Taco Town and Greek Street food trucks 1-6 p.m.

Ricky and the Rebels will perform 1-4 p.m.

Come out to meet new friends and join the Legion family.

Catasauqua Fire Police will be having a flea market 8 a.m.-2 p.m. May 28 at the fire training grounds, Second and Race streets. Food and drink will be available for sale.

You can rent a space for a small fee.
