The producers of the Freddy Awards and Prestige Production are presenting “Summer Acting Camp at the State Theatre Center for the Arts,” July 11 - 22, with a “Camp Recital,” July 23, Easton.
Director of the State Theatre Summer Acting Camp is Denise Crawn, owner of Prestige Productions, who brings extensive experience in theater, including acting, directing and producing.
The camp is presented in four groups: Grades 1-3, Grades 4-5, Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12.
The two-week course is designed to include an educationally-based, fun-filled theater experience where the spotlight is on the student.
Each child will rotate daily between three classes (Acting, Music, Dance), learning lessons and tips needed in all phases of theater.
Subjects include audition technique, presentation, terminology, character development, scene work, improv skills and acting games, choreography, show preparation, and musical technique.
Classes for the camp begin July 11 and run weekdays through July 22. Morning sessions are 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Afternoon sessions are 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
The last day of class, July 22, is a full day, morning and afternoon, for all students.
The course culminates in a student-showcase recital, July 23, when students perform on the stage of the historic State Theatre.
Class size is limited to 25 students per group. Morning sessions for Grades 1-3 and afternoon sessions for Grades 4-12 are available.
The course fee includes two free tickets to the July 23 recital. Scholarships are made possible by the Thomas F. Staley Foundation.
