Lehigh County 4-H announced May 2 Corteva Agriscience donated $2,500 toward the 4-H Livestock Club Barnyard Zoo as part of their company sponsorship program.

“We are very thankful of this donation to make improvements to our educational exhibits for several local fairs and events,” Lehigh County 4-H Educator Kelly Weisner said.

“The funds helped to make the area more secure for animals as well as providing high quality educational posters about where food comes from. Many of the consumers in Lehigh County are far removed from the farm, so this opportunity helps area residents connect what they use and eat to the farm that produced it.”

Weisner said there is no better place than 4-H for building the foundation of success.

She said 4-H is a community of encouraging adults and welcoming kids who love to roll up their sleeves and learn by doing.

The 4-H families work, serve and have fun together through all kinds of projects.

Youth involved in 4-H participate in events and activities through clubs, in school-based and after-school programs and as individual members.

The Lehigh County Livestock club welcomes youth who are interested in learning about beef, sheep, meat goats and hogs.

Youth do not need to own or have a livestock animal to join, just a desire to learn about livestock health and meat production.

Corteva makes contributions to community-based organizations on behalf of the company and employees.

Consideration for outreach grants is given to communities where Corteva sales representatives, farmer dealers, employees and customers live and work and support quality-of-life initiatives to create an improved, sustainable lifestyle for people worldwide.

Many educational and fun activities are offered by 4-H in Pennsylvania.

In Pennsylvania, 4-H is coordinated by Penn State Cooperative Extension through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Programs are open to all youth regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin or disability.
